Coming back to this corner of Europe, the summer has arrived, although in some timid ways. And summer in Portugal means there are many events everywhere! A pleasant surprise for us was the “Roman Festival – Talabrigae Ex Libris” held in Soutelo, Albergaria-a-Velha, Aveiro, from June 7 to 9. It was the first time we went and the Romans conquered us! If you could not visit this year, let us show you how it was, and remember to book the event in your agenda for next year.
The posts have not been very regular in the last couple of months. Often the unexpected happens, as unexpected was the stay in Spain early in the year for a few months, or after this tragedy, of which I told you here, was also unexpected to receive the request to go to Mozambique and to have been completely immersed in work. This means a lot of photos in the file. So we have a lot of material to show you from this year, stay tuned!
Right at the entrance of the Roman Festival, you can rent a costume, then descend to a very beautiful scenery wrapped in nature, transporting us to the Roman presence in the region a long, long time ago.
Descending to the river and the mill in the Roman Festival, you encounter an idyllic scenery where the different elements gave place to a beautiful spectacle of peace
Passing by the Roman guard, witch doctors, dancers, and even Asterix, you will feel the time fly, while you have a look to various organized shows, enjoy the music, the theatre, the dance, all while socializing.
Incredible storytellers give us smiles with unexpected stories of men who are maidens, maidens with flatulence, unforeseen endings, but who always leave the audience laughing.
When you come to the Roman Festival, in addition to have a really good time, you will also be contributing to a greater cause, as the event was created and is organized by APPACDM of Albergaria-a-Velha, which provides assistance to mentally disable. All of the profits made at the festival, entry cost or food area, among others, revert entirely to this organization and to solve the problems they face daily.
We were able to watch the Roman music show with APPACDM users and it was one of the most beautiful moments we watched. The dedication of the caregivers to the users was very visible and left us speechless. It is admirable to see how in this event everything was thought in order to contribute and help these people. Makes the event even more beautiful!
And you, are you going to visit the event next year?
